Nicol of Skene, a well-established civil engineering contractor based in Scotland, is expanding its specialist Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) team.
This is an opportunity to join one of the leading HDD contractors in the region, working on complex trenchless installations using modern equipment and proven methods. Full training will be provided for the right candidates, making this a strong opportunity for those looking to build a long-term career in civil engineering and drilling operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain horizontal directional drilling equipment
- Carry out pilot bores, back reaming and product installation
- Complete pre-start checks, daily maintenance and minor repairs
- Interpret utility drawings and identify existing underground services
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
- Work closely with drilling crews and support site operations
- Assist with mud systems and drilling fluid processes where required
- Complete daily job sheets and site reports

Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in civil engineering or utility installation is advantageous
- Mechanical or agricultural background is beneficial
- Experience operating plant such as tractors or lorries is desirable
Qualifications:
- Full UK driving licence
- CSCS card
- Relevant health and safety training
- Additional tickets such as banksman, slinger, dumper or roller are desirable
