Nicol of Skene, a well-established civil engineering, multi-utility and directional drilling construction company based in Aberdeen is seeking experienced General Site Operatives.
The General Site Operative will support the delivery of civil engineering projects by carrying out a variety of manual tasks on site, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard in line with company standards and client expectations. This role requires a hands-on, adaptable, and safety-conscious individual who can work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation, set-up, and clearance of worksites.
- Carry out general labouring duties including digging, backfilling, laying ducts, and installing utility infrastructure.
- Operate hand tools, small plant, and machinery as required (subject to training/competency).
- Maintain good housekeeping on site and ensure work areas are kept clean and safe.
- Support plant and materials handling, including loading/unloading deliveries.
- Follow instructions from the Chargehand/Supervisor/Management and work in line with method statements and risk assessments.
- Adhere to all company health, safety, environmental, and quality policies.
- Report any hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly
- Complete timesheet and any other paperwork as instructed by Chargehand/Supervisor/Management
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience working on civil engineering construction sites
- Understanding of site safety requirements and safe working practices
- Valid CSCS Card
- Street Works – desirable
- CPCS Dumper and Roller – desirable
- CPCS Plant card – desirable
- Good communication skills
- Display a positive attitude, strong work ethic and be self-motivated and able to work independently or within a team
- Full UK driving licence
- Legal right to work in the UK without restrictions (no sponsorship available)
