Nicol of Skene, a leading Civil Engineering, Horizontal Directional Drilling & Multi-Utility Contractor, is seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger Administrator to join and strengthen our team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an articulate, diligent proactive individual with a can-do attitude to join our busy Accounts team.
The main purpose of this role is to process a high volume of purchase ledger invoices accurately and efficiently, while ensuring that month-end deadlines and company procedures are met.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, preferably within a fast-paced environment. Construction industry experience would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and check a high volume of purchase invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring month-end deadlines are met
- Process and enter Goods Received Notes (GRNs)
- Match invoices accurately against purchase orders and Goods Received Notes
- Obtain the appropriate invoice approval and authorisation
- Maintain and update the Job Costing System
- Maintain the purchase ledger query file and liaise with suppliers to resolve queries and discrepancies
- File purchase invoices and Goods Received Notes accurately and efficiently
- Achieve targets set by Senior Management and keep the Line Manager updated on progress
- Assist the Accounts Administrator as and when required
- Provide holiday cover for the Accounts Administrator
- Participate in internal and external audits as required
- Undertake any other related duties or tasks as reasonably assigned
Working Pattern:
- Contract Type - Permanent, Full-time
- Hours of work – 8.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday
- Hours per week – 37.5 hours

REQUIREMENTS
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Previous Purchase Ledger experience
- Previous experience working within an accounting team
- Numerate with excellent attention to detail
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently using own initiative
- Good organisation and time management skills
- Proactive approach with a positive can-do attitude
Desirable:
- Previous experience within the construction industry
- Familiarity with Sage Line 50
- Familiarity with Construction Manager Software
