Nicol of Skene is delighted to announce a new contract to provide horizontal directional drilling (HDD) services at the Portintruan Distillery on the Isle of Islay. Our specialised drilling team will soon be island-bound to begin the project.
This project will enhance the distillery's effluent waste system by installing a new 200mm pipe. Our team will utilise a Prime Drill PD-80 and a Sandvik 10” 5/8 Drilling Bit NOV Mud-Motor to execute the precise drilling required for the job. We'll also be using a Brownline GYRO Steering system and a miles underground pump & recycler to ensure the project is completed with the highest level of accuracy and efficiency.
The project will be led by HDD Operations Manager Gordon Martin, who has been working closely with Elixir Distillers and Blyth & Blyth to ensure the project's success. He will be joined by HDD Technical Manager Keith Elliott and Callum Hillerby, who was responsible for the project's design.
"We are thrilled to have been awarded this project on Islay," said Gordon Martin. "Our team is eager to apply our expertise in horizontal directional drilling to support the development of this exciting new distillery."
