Nicol of Skene has began work as the main contractor on the new ANM Business Park site.
The expansion of ANM business park has been in the pipeline for years and is finally beginning to take shape. ANM Group was established in 1872. To date, they have more than 4,500 members and 20,000 customers in several different sectors including agriculture, commercial, industrial and property.
The 65 acres of land that make up the site were allocated to the new business park back in 2012. The business park will become one of Aberdeen’s leading business hubs. On completion, the project will bring benefits to the local and national economy now and into the future, including the creation of additional jobs. ANM were very keen to use local suppliers in the construction process, Nicol of Skene secured a substantial role in the project as the main contractor, they are responsible for general site clearance and bulk earthworks
Part of the works included carrying out an excavation as part of an archeological dig. Nicol will also install 1.5km of road infrastructure including a roundabout. Onsite and offsite works are included within project. Connections from new to existing services offsite will be made and 3km of storm water and foul water pipes for the new industrial site of 20 business units will be installed. Platforms for future tenant plot developments are to be formed and a diversion of the existing drove road is to be carried out to go around the perimeter of the new site boundaries. This allows ANM to continue the transportation of livestock as usual with no obstruction.
This multi-million-pound project is evidence of confidence returning to the Aberdeen area after the economic downturn of the oil and gas industry. It will provide Aberdeen with promising economic growth and Nicol are delighted to be a part of this project as the main contractor on site.
